The Grady College Department of Advertising and Public Relations announces its fourth annual week-long celebration of National AdPR Week at UGA, Sept. 17 – 21.
“AdPR Week at Grady is about celebrating the advertising and public relations professions,” said Bryan Reber, head of the AdPR department. “This year we are focusing on crisis communication, the media environment and great Georgia brands.”
The week will feature an engaging lineup of events packed with special presentations and professional development opportunities led by industry veterans. We will also culminate the week with our second annual, AdPRide Games. An opportunity for students in our department to celebrate their success over breakfast and engage in friendly competition between Advertising and Public Relations majors.
This year’s keynote speaker is Rick White, senior public relations and communications advisor and previous associate vice chancellor for communications at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During his talk, entitled “When We Shine,” White will discuss how communications and public relations professionals set themselves apart as leaders and make a critical difference to their organizations in difficult times.
The UGA chapters of AdClub, IABC and PRSSA are hosting a joint club meeting with special guest, Mitch Scharf, EVP Managing Director at Zenith South.
Following this, we will have several industry leaders joining us on Wednesday, for a panel discussion led by Brad Taylor. Taylor is a recently retired vice president of sales and marketing, National Accounts at Coca-Cola.
“We’re fortunate to have some real superstars coming to speak. Students will hear from Coca-Cola, Cox Communications, Delta Airlines, Zenith Media and others. It’s a great opportunity to network and learn from these leaders. We’re excited about the programming that’s planned,” said Reber.
The Department of Advertising and Public Relations boasts national rankings, award-winning faculty and successful alumni who are changing the world of advertising and public relations by applying the knowledge they gained from a top-notch education at UGA.
AdPR pride will be shared on social media with the hashtag #AdPRide.
