Abstract: This study examines the framing of headlines of news stories published on the state-sponsored web portal China Radio International (CRI) intended for Croatian and Serbian audiences. The quantitative content analysis of 232 headlines on the CRI web portal in Serbian and 232 headlines on the CRI web portal in Croatian language is being conducted for the period before, during, and after the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing. The preliminary framing analysis shows that the focus of headlines is on Chinese officials and the Chinese state in a positive tone, while the topics covered include Chinese politics, international relations, science and technology, sports, and culture. The results are interpreted in light of mediated public diplomacy and framing theories.
