What journalism students and educators need to know when using AI tools for news reporting?

Abstract: Artificial intelligence (AI) tools can offer innovative solutions for idea generation, writing, and sentiment analysis. In this session, we shared best practices for journalism students using AI tools for news reporting and offer ideas for educators who want to incorporate AI tools into their syllabus. We provided an overview of how AI tools are used in journalism schools and in newsrooms around the country, providing insight into how some of the most innovative TV newsrooms in the country are using AI tools in their day-to-day operations, talk about useful AI tools for classrooms, and discuss ethical considerations.
