InternViews is a series where we ask Grady College students to describe their internship experience.

Jaiden Arada, an entertainment and media studies student, works for Mosaic Media Group as an intern in Los Angeles, California. Read more about her internship below.

What opportunities did you have during your internship?

I have had some amazing opportunities throughout this internship. I got to sit in on a live podcast recording in the office when I shadowed our head podcast executive here at Mosaic. I attended an event where we had stand-up comedians looking for representation get to perform at our office. I will be having lunch with the CEO of the company soon. Mosaic has provided me with a plethora of opportunities and I am so thankful for my time here.

What is one piece of work you are proud of creating in this role?

We had the opportunity to do a project where we pitch an original piece of intellectual property into a piece of media. I pitched turning a New York Times essay into a feature film. It was a really cool experience, and I pitched the project with one of our clients!

How has the Grady curriculum prepared you for this internship?

My Entertainment and Media Studies curriculum has prepared me greatly for this role. My classes, like Industries and Analysis, helped me be culturally literate in my conversations and analyze themes for my script coverage. My more hands-on classes, like Production Basics, helped me to problem solve quickly and help set up equipment needed for events at Mosaic. I am grateful for the classes at Grady College that have helped prepare me for this internship.

Did you receive any mentorship or guidance? How did it impact your experience?

I received great mentorship from my intern coordinator, Patrick Weber. He has helped guide me throughout the internship and has always offered words of encouragement. He has truly helped the interns learn their role within the company and encourages us to take advantage of the opportunities provided for us.

How has this internship influenced your future career?

This internship has shown me how an entertainment management company operates and the different sectors of the industry that a manager can specialize in. After learning more about entertainment management and seeing what the managers and their assistants do day-to-day, I could definitely see myself working at an entertainment management company post-graduation. I am thankful for my internship here because it has made me look into a career path that I would have otherwise not known about!
