Allison Damron named 2024-25 Strategic Health and Risk Communication Fellow

November 06, 2024

Allison Damron, an advertising major in Grady College, has been named the Strategic Health & Risk Communication Fellow for 2024-25.

Damron will work closely with Jeong-Yeob Han, associate professor and director of the SHRC certificate, to promote and expand the program.

“Allison is exceptionally well-equipped to serve as the Strategic Health & Risk Communication Fellow,” Han said. “Her diverse academic background will be invaluable as she works to expand and promote the SHRC program. Her hands-on experience demonstrates her strong skills in communication, collaboration, and strategic thinking—qualities that will serve her well in tackling the complex health and risk communication challenges we aim to address through this fellowship. I am confident that Allison’s passion and skills will make a significant impact on the SHRC program and the broader Grady College community.”

In addition to her advertising major, Damron is also pursuing certificates in Grady College’s New Media Program and Terry College’s Music Business Program. Originally from Smyrna, Georgia, Allison currently interns at a music discovery startup, focusing on UX and UI, and will soon begin her role as the Industry Relations intern with The Recording Academy this spring. She expects to graduate in Spring 2026.

The Strategic Health & Risk Communication certificate equips undergraduate students with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience to apply communication strategies in tackling public health challenges. This certificate prepares students to address society’s evolving health needs and enables them to use their health promotion and communication expertise in practical, real-world settings.

Through her coursework at Grady, Damron has developed strong skills in campaign creation, market research, and social media marketing. She has also served on the executive board of the Ad Club since her freshman year, both as vice president of professional and educational programming, where she has demonstrated effective partnership-building and event organization skills.
