International Mass Communication in Croatia Study Abroad
Join us in May 2023 for an intensive, exhilarating and immersive experience in International Mass Communication taught in Croatia!.
Don’t speak the language? No problem. English fluency is widespread in Croatia.
During this course, you will:
Learn about international communication processes directly in the field.
Come to a greater understanding of the historical significance of sites throughout Croatia.
Visit local media organizations, and connect with media practitioners and academics.
Spend days immersed in international communication, sightseeing, and enjoying Croatian capital Zagreb and the beautiful Croatian coast.
Have the opportunity to travel to nearby European countries and Croatian islands.
Program Dates
Students will arrive in Zagreb, Croatia on May 14th, 2023. The students will depart from Dubrovnik, Croatia on June 3, 2023. Exact dates in each city (Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik) are TBD at this time.
The Course
JRLC 5080 International Mass Communication –
This course will explore patterns of international communication formation including its historical, theoretical, and practical implications. Through lectures, guest lectures, travel, excursions, and social activities, students will analyze international communication processes in the context of Central Europe through both theoretical and practical perspectives. Emphasis will also be on the role of culture in international communication processes. Students will receive 3 credit hours of upper-electives.
Who can apply?
Any currently enrolled college student is eligible to apply.
Strong candidates include students who are passionate and interested in learning about other cultures and communication processes across national borders. They have a high level of personal responsibility and genuine interest in the educational aspect of this program.

Dr. Ivanka Pjesivac specializes in the study and practice of international communication processes with the special focus on Eastern and Central Europe. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in international communication, news media and credibility, misinformation and propaganda, public opinion and multi-platform story production. She is a former international correspondent, who travelled extensively around the world and is fluent in three languages.

Program Staff
Rebekah R. Seabolt has been Grady’s Global Studies Program Manager since August 2016. She earned a bachelor of arts in public health from Georgia College and State University in 2011 and a master of arts in public relations from the University of Georgia in 2016. As the Global Studies Program Manager, Rebekah is the point of contact for all of Grady College’s study abroad and domestic field study programs.
