Andrea Hudson teaches a variety of journalism classes, including photojournalism and reporting and writing across platforms. Her research is grounded in women’s studies and visual communication.

Teaching Specialities

As a journalism instructor, Hudson feels a moral obligation that her students understand how journalists construct narratives about culture. She values classroom conversations that encourage dialogue, critical thinking, and diversity of thought. She was honored to receive recognition for her journalism instruction as a graduate student during the 2019-2020 school year.


Hudson has spent more than a decade working as a reporter, photojournalist, and public relations practitioner, specializing in the areas of government and politics. From 2021 to 2022, she served as the spokeswoman for the Jackson County School System. Here, she was recognized at the state and national levels for excellence in the following areas: web page design, newsletter distribution, event planning, and branding packages. Hudson also served as the official photographer for Governor Nathan Deal where she used documentary photography to cover the daily life of Georgia’s 82nd governor. She has also covered local, state, and national politics as a reporter and photographer for the Commerce News, the Banks County News, the Jackson Herald, and Hudson also owns and operates a freelance photography business where she provides environmental portraits and documentary photography for clients.
