About: Anthony Amey is a clinical assistant professor in the Carmical Sports Institute. He worked for more than two decades as a sports anchor and reporter, including ESPN and three Top 20 markets, including Atlanta-area WSB-TV.

Experience

During Amey's nearly two decades as a sports anchor and reporter, he either directly interviewed and/or had the opportunity in press conferences to ask questions of Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Hank Aaron, Jerry Rice, Jack Nicklaus, Kobe Bryant, Barry Bonds, LeBron James, Alex Ovechkin, and Evander Holyfield, among others.  He worked at several TV markets, ESPN, Pro Unlimited where he wrote content for EA Sports and its NBA Live 20 video game, and helped launch the national network BNC as the leader of the sports department, by anchoring daily sports and conducting interviews.

Prior to Grady College, Amey was an assistant professor of practice teaching Sports Journalism and Media Writing at Virginia Tech for three years. He is fulfilled by connecting with and instructing students who have aspirations to join the sports media industry.

Amey is a member of several industry professional organizations including the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), National Sports Media Association and the Society of Professional Journalists, among others.

Amey was born and raised in Washington, D.C., and attended Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in D.C., which has a claim to fame as the nation's first public high school established for Black students (1870). He was class valedictorian.
