Abstract: This study aims to examine the use and function of adjectives and adverbs in the coverage of the war in Ukraine by comparing the content of Russian state media Sputnik with the American Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL). Building on previous linguistic and discourse studies of such modifiers, this study aims to understand how differing news outlets contextualize adjectives and adverbs in their war coverage.
