Denetra Walker & Perry, E. (Accepted/Upcoming 2024). “We know this story too well: Black women struggles in newsrooms and journalism classrooms,” in Feminist Media Manifestos.

Abstract: Through Intersectionality- this chapter written by two Black women journalists & scholars gives an honest, transparent reflection of their shared firsthand experiences in newsrooms and college classrooms. Pushing against dominant institutional narratives, the authors reflect on the patriarchal systems in which they must navigate but hold a great admiration to flourish. They give suggestions to how newsrooms and universities can better listen to, support, and retain Black women.
