Three Grady faculty members elected to International Communication Association roles

Grady College is well represented in the latest International Communication Association (ICA) election. The organization is internationally renowned for promoting academic communication research.

María Len-Ríos, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and public relations professor, was elected as ICA Board Member at Large and will serve a three-year term.

“ICA is where the best research ideas about communication issues facing our industries, societies and the world are debated, analyzed and discussed,” Len-Ríos said. “To be elected an officer of any of the divisions in ICA is serving as one of a number of people playing a leadership role in addressing the future communication challenges and opportunities in our worlds.”

Kyser Lough, assistant professor of journalism, was elected secretary of ICA’s division of visual communication studies.

“Visual communication research is very important to me and I’ve had lots of support from the division over the years,” said Lough. “Now, I can give back and help support other scholars who are wanting to incorporate visuals into their research.”

Glenna Read, assistant professor of advertising, was elected ICA secretary of information systems.

“This election expands Grady’s footprint in the Information Systems Division of ICA,” Read said. “I hope that my election as secretary will encourage researchers at Grady to consider InfoSys as a venue to highlight their research projects.”

Lough and Read will serve two-year terms. All elected representatives will begin their terms in May 2020.

The International Communication Association, with 4,500 members in 80 countries, publishes journals with the high impact factors in the communication field.
