Saylor Williams selected as senior speaker for Fall 2024 Convocation
Saylor Williams, a graduating journalism major from Acworth, Georgia, has been selected as the Fall 2024 Grady College Convocation senior speaker. Williams is also earning a minor in film studies.
Williams will deliver her remarks in a talk about “Seasons, series and what comes next,” at ceremonies on Dec. 12, 2024, at Hodgson Hall at the Performing Arts Center on UGA’s campus.
“I am incredibly honored to not only be graduating from Grady College, but to have been given the opportunity to represent such an unwavering and resilient class,” Williams said. “Grady has provided me with irreplaceable connections, friendships and lessons over the years, and I am honored to play a small role in the lasting legacy of such an amazing program.”
During her talk, Williams will draw on her work and travel experiences while a student at UGA. Williams has served on the UGA Football Coaches Video team, filming and editing football film and helping to manage the social media accounts associated with UGA Football Video. She also served as a UGA Hockey intern and Ice Dawgs video manager, as well as a reporter for The Oglethorpe Echo. This past summer, Williams participated in LeadAbroad, generating video and photo content for social media while abroad in Cape Town, South Africa, for the study away and international service organization. Williams has held leadership roles in her sorority, Alpha Phi, and with UGA Miracle.
Grady College Convocation takes place Dec. 12 at 10 a.m. A live stream and subsequent recording will be available to view on the UGA Grady YouTube account.
Graduates and their families are invited to a Graduation celebration at Grady College Dec. 12 from 2 to 4 p.m.
UGA Commencement ceremonies will take place Dec. 13 at Stegeman Coliseum. Graduate ceremonies take place at 2:30 p.m. and undergraduate ceremonies take place at 10 a.m.
