Profiles of Tenacity: Lindsay Rothman

January 10, 2025

Lindsay Rothman is an Advertising major from Alpharetta, Georgia, set to graduate in May 2026. She has a deep passion for social media coordination, as seen in the various positions she holds. Rothman is the social media chair for UGA Habitat, a Leasing and Marketing Associate for Hub Athens and a content creator for both Victoria’s Secret and Hollister.

Why did you choose your major?

I’ve always had a more creative brain, and the generic classes I took in my earlier education never excited me. But what did excite me was my love for my extracurricular activities—from social media for student council to outreach as president of Habitat for Humanity. Once I got to college, the doors opened and I found my new path. Advertising is about telling a story, and what’s not to love about giving life to an experience or tangible item?

What does tenacity mean to you?

As Paul McCartney said, “take a sad song and make it better.” To me, tenacity is channeling the little version of ourselves—the one who always found a way to turn lemons into lemonade. It’s getting up, even after you’ve snoozed the alarm three times. Most of all, tenacity is the courage to look for rainbows, even in the middle of a storm.

What is one piece of advice that you would give to other Grady students?

No matter what you could’ve imagined, it’s better. Grady offers a community of students and professors who love what you love. I know you’ve heard this repeatedly, but when you’re passionate about what you’re learning, it doesn’t feel like work—it feels like purpose.

What motivates you?

Like most students, I have no idea where my life will take me, but my potential motivates me to utilize all the resources and experiences I’ve been given.

What or who has had the biggest impact on your life during your time at UGA?

In the second semester of freshman year, I was paired with Renata Navarro as my mentor for the American Marketing Association. The rest is history. She’s taught me endless lessons, but most of all, she taught me to take advantage of every opportunity and give it everything I’ve got.

What has been your biggest accomplishment in the past year?

Not quitting. I was balancing roles as social media chair for UGA HEROs and UGA Habitat for Humanity and most importantly, my first professional position as a leasing and marketing associate – essentially a social media coordinator— for Hub Athens. There were moments when I felt like I was drowning, but my passion for what I was doing kept me going—and I refused to quit. I’ve learned so much and am eternally grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given.

Where’s your favorite place on campus and why?

As much as I love to journal in the garden on North Campus, I couldn’t say that’s my favorite place. To be transparent, I don’t think I could pick one, so instead, I will say my favorite place would be where my people are. The friendships I’ve made here will last a lifetime and genuinely make UGA feel like home.

What advice would you give to your freshman self?

Don’t waste your time worrying about if you’re on the right path; you will end up exactly where you’re meant to be. That said, never hesitate to ask for help. Step outside your comfort zone. And most importantly, don’t fear making mistakes—they’re how we grow and learn. P.S. try to enjoy every moment; it goes by in a flash.
