Read her Q/A below.

Why did you choose your major?

When I was in middle school, I auditioned to be the first-ever news anchor for my school’s new morning show. To my suprise, I received the position, and I have known ever since then that I wanted to be a journalist. Before I got into Grady College, I joined the Red & Black, which I love and further confirmed that I wanted to study journalism.

What does tenacity mean to you?

Tenacity means pursuing your goals even in the face of hardship. Chasing after your dreams is not easy, and there will always be someone or something blocking the path. However, tenacity is knowing that there will be obstacles, but continuing to get up every day and create the life you want.

What is one piece of advice that you would give to other Grady students?

One piece of advice I would give to other Grady students is to join clubs and groups that align with your career goals. Experience is so important to success. So, join anything that you think could help you make connections and set you apart in the future.

What motivates you?

What motivates me is the fact that only I can make my dreams a reality. There are no handouts in life, only opportunities.

What or who has had the biggest impact on your life during your time at UGA?

Dr. Jonathan Peters has had the biggest impact on me during my time at UGA. I had never considered the legal codes and standards that journalists are held to before taking his Communications Law class. He also very apparently cared about his students and their success, which is comforting knowing that someone is looking out for you.

What has been your biggest accomplishment in the past year?

My biggest accomplishment in the past year was being elected as the marketing committee lead for Relay for Life. Not only have I had the opportunity to improve my writing and communication skills, but I have been able to lead a team dedicated to service and finding a cure to better the lives of our community.

What is your favorite place on campus and why?

My favorite place on campus is Sanford Stadium, especially on a home game day. I grew up loving the Bulldogs, and I am so grateful that I now get to cheer them on as a UGA student.

What advice would you give to your freshman self?

I would love to tell my freshman self not to worry so much about whether I would get into Grady College and be as successful as I desired to be. I wasted so much time panicking instead of living in the moment and just trying my best. I wish I could tell my freshman self that everything works out if you work hard, but also remember to have fun.
