Hyde Healy (ABJ ’23) makes film debut in Hulu’s ‘Untitled BriTANicK Pizza Movie’
Hyde Healy (ABJ ‘23) is making his mark with an appearance in an upcoming “Untitled BriTANicK Pizza Movie,” produced by American High.
Healy has a degree in Entertainment and Media Studies (EMST). During his time at Grady College, Healy gained valuable, hands-on experience, which he credits to preparing him for this role and his career.
Healy reflected on his time at Grady College and a class he had with Laurena Bernabo. “I remember being in Dr. B’s class having to read the trades and report on articles as an assignment, so to now be featured in one is a pretty cool full circle moment,” said Healy, referencing an article in Variety about the new film.
Healy also said this role likely would not have happened without his experience doing the Grady in LA Internship program, where he interned at Mosaic. “A manager I met there, Drew Shenfield who is actually now my manager, helped get me the opportunity that led me down the path I am on now.”
When asked about one of his favorite memories from Grady, Healy recalled making a short film titled “Rancid.” Healy shared how he and his team “…had to make a carton of milk look disgustingly rancid, so we mixed in green food dye and dirt until it looked terrible.” Healy continued to reflect on the experience, stating, “It was a small crew, but it was such a fun project and showed me how creative you can get with practical effects.”
Since filming his appearance in the “Untitled BriTANicK Pizza Movie,” Healy has moved to New York City and is pursuing a career in stand-up comedy and social media, with hopes of building a career in entertainment.
Healy also shared advice for current Grady College students, stating, “Do stuff. If you want to be a director of photography, go work on short films. Meet people in your classes, connect with professors, make those friendships. College is about learning, but just as importantly it’s about building relationships. You never know how those connections will shape your future.”
With Hulu set to release the film in 2025, Healy says he’s eager for audiences to enjoy the comedy showcasing the story of two college students who take an experimental drug and then embark on an obstacle-filled journey to retrieve a pizza a few floors down in their building.
