Grady College launches Corporate Engagement program
Alumni, industry partners and organizations that are looking for opportunities to support Grady College, facilitate projects with a unique Gen Z perspective and engage with students, now have one central place to connect.
The new Grady College Corporate Engagement program features opportunities to speak with students in classes and clubs, recruit students for professional jobs, provide learning experiences for students through classroom projects and attend continuing education programs.
“Our new corporate engagement platform allows our many partners a way to deepen their relationship with Grady College,” said Charles N. Davis, dean of Grady College. “It’s designed to meet the needs of our corporate partners while also providing greater resources for our students to engage in more meaningful experiential learning opportunities, internships and jobs.”
Missy Hill has been named the new director of Corporate Engagement for Grady College, and a new Corporate Engagement webpage highlighting opportunities has been created.
“The partnerships and collaboration we have with industry professionals and organizations are invaluable to our students,” Hill said. “Bridging academia and practice is truly transformational and provides not only critical experiential learning opportunities but also helps build the future pipeline of leadership in the industries we serve.”
Hill says there are many ways that organizations and industry professionals can actively engage with students including:
- Lecturing in areas of expertise.
- Participating in recruiting programs and career fairs.
- Inviting students to create advertising and public relations campaigns through the Talking Dog Agency, or capstone technology projects like apps and websites through the New Media Institute.
- Attending an executive education program in crisis communications.
Sponsorship packages with a variety of engagement options are also available.
Hill continued: “We are committed to growing our relationships with current partners and look forward to developing new partnerships through our newly established corporate engagement program. Creating innovative learning experiences benefits not only our students, but also our industry partners.”
The Corporate Engagement program was developed in collaboration with Grady College administration and the Board of Trust, a group of industry leaders dedicated to the advancement of the College.
Carole Munroe, chair of the Board of Trust, said she has benefited firsthand from activities at Grady College that are now part of the current Corporate Engagement program.
“As a student, I was the first intern selected to work full-time at a global nonprofit, in a role co-developed with UGA,” Munroe said. “As a mentor, I’ve always emphasized the importance of gaining real-world experience before graduation to gain a competitive edge. As a corporate executive, I highly value internship programs as they are investments in both the company’s and industry’s futures. These programs bring in well-trained students with new energy, innovative ideas and diverse experiences, allowing organizations to grow their businesses and cultivate stronger relationships with consumers. And, as a board member, I know first-hand that Grady College provides among the best skilled, most experienced students across all communications disciplines.”
