The Grady College Department of Advertising and Public Relations announces its sixth annual week-long celebration of National ADPR Week at University of Georgia, October 5-9.

The week will feature an engaging lineup of events filled with virtual presentations and professional development opportunities facilitated by industry leaders. AdPR is also featuring its first Calling All Dawgs AdPR Giving Day campaign, asking alumni and friends of the Department to contribute to the Diversity and Inclusion Fund and the AdPR Excellence Fund. The goal is to reach 75 gifts within 24 hours on Monday, October 5. Gifts will support students in experiential learning programs, diversity initiatives such as AdPR Academy, and internships to foster professional development and growth.

“I’m excited about the programming that is in place for our sixth annual ADPR Week,” said Department Head Bryan Reber.  “By planning a virtual celebration we are able to bring alumni leaders to campus who might otherwise not have time to join us.  Another benefit of being virtual is that friends and alumni from around the country or even the globe can logon and be part of the celebration of our professions.”

Two alumni, Tim Mapes (ABJ ’86) and Carole Munroe (ABJ ’82), will be featured as part of AdPR’s Driven by Purpose virtual speaker series. On October 6, Tim Mapes, SVP and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer for Delta Air Lines, will discuss how Delta’s corporate purpose and mission have changed over the past year. On October 8, Carole Munroe, Senior Director of Global Communications for Hilton Worldwide, will engage in a discussion entitled, “How a 100 Years Young Company Transforms Travel with Purpose”.

An AdPR alumni panel discussion, moderated by Professor Joe Watson, “Industry Insight & Career Advice“ will be offered to current AdPR students who are interested in learning about what it takes to succeed in the early years of one’s career. The week’s events are dedicated to giving our community an opportunity to network and learn from these alumni. AdPR and graduate students can register here.

The Department of Advertising and Public Relations remains one of the top programs in the country and has award-winning teaching and research faculty and highly successful alumni who are influencing the world of advertising and public relations by applying the knowledge they gained from a top-notch education at UGA.

AdPR pride will be shared on social media with the hashtag #AdPRide.
