Audrie Uphues named senior speaker for Fall 2023 Convocation

Audrie Uphues, a graduating journalism major from Odessa, Florida, has been named the distinguished senior speaker for the Grady College Fall Convocation.

Graduating students will be celebrated during Convocation ceremonies on Dec. 14, 2023, beginning at 10 a.m. at the UGA Performing Arts Center. Grady Convocation is a ticketed event, and a livestream will be available on the Grady College You Tube channel.

Uphues is graduating Magna Cum Laude with certificates in New Media, Carmical Sports Media and Terry College of Business Entrepreneurship. For the past two years, Uphues has served as a videography intern with Georgia Football, filming and editing home and away football games, including the 2023 National Championship Game. She also manages the @footballuga TikTok account, and served as the North Oconee High School girls soccer social media manager in Spring 2023.

The subject of her convocation address is “The DNA of a Champion.”

In addition to her experiential learning opportunities, Uphues has served in several leadership roles including as a McGill Fellow, a Grady College Ambassador and Order of Omega honoree. She is a member of Alpha Chi Omega.

She would like to continue working in sports after graduation, ideally with the NFL or collegiate athletics.

In addition to Grady Convocation, graduating students and family are invited to attend the Graduation Celebration on Dec. 13 from 2 to 5 p.m. The celebration takes place on the Schnitzer Family Media Lawn outside of Grady College and features light refreshments, photo opportunities and the chance to talk with faculty and fellow graduating students.

UGA Commencement ceremonies take place on Dec. 15 at Stegeman Coliseum. Undergraduate ceremonies talk place at 10 a.m. and graduate ceremonies take place at 2 p.m.
