Abu Mohammad "Sakil" Faizullah
Sakil Faizullah is a seasoned communication specialist and doctoral candidate at the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Georgia, Atlanta. With a rich professional background spanning over two decades, Sakil has made significant contributions to international development and advocacy, particularly in the realm of children's rights and public health. Prior to pursuing his Ph.D., Sakil held key positions at UNICEF Bangladesh, where he spearheaded communication and advocacy initiatives, including the drafting and implementation of comprehensive strategies and the orchestration of responses to crises such as the Rohingya refugee crisis. His diverse experience also encompasses roles as a communications manager for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Bangladesh, as well as stints with renowned media organizations such as the BBC World Service and Radio Netherlands.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Sakil is a published author and a committed advocate for social change. His academic pursuits, including a Master of Arts in Radio Journalism from Goldsmiths College, University of London, reflect his dedication to exploring the intersections of media, politics, and social justice. Currently focused on his Ph.D. research, Sakil's work centers on effective communication strategies for marginalized communities, with a particular emphasis on low-tech solutions for underprivileged populations. Through his academic and professional endeavors, Sakil strives to empower individuals and communities to amplify their voices and effect positive change in society.
