Uddin
A K M Zamir Uddin is a Ph.D. student in the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia. His research interests lie in crisis communication, with a particular focus on financial and corporate institutions. He earned his second M.A. in Communication from Missouri State University (MSU) in May 2025, where he also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the academic and research arenas, MSU awarded him the John Bourhis Excellence in Research Award in 2025.
Before beginning his academic career in the United States, he earned his first M.A. in Journalism and Communication from the University of Chittagong in Bangladesh in 2008. He then began his professional career in the newspaper industry in Bangladesh, a South Asian nation, where he worked with leading news media outlets, including The Daily Star, New Age, and Samakal. He served these organizations in several roles, including editor, reporter, and commentator on contemporary economic, business, and corporate issues. He was regarded as one of the leading financial investigative reporters in Bangladesh and broke several high-profile financial scams that rattled the global financial sector. The investigative reports he produced caused widespread crises for financial organizations, ultimately motivating him to transition from journalism to academia to better understand crisis management.
To date, his 12 research papers have been accepted for presentation at major academic conferences, including the International Communication Association (ICA), the National Communication Association (NCA), the Western States Communication Association (WSCA), and the International Crisis and Risk Communication Association (ICRCA).
