Profiles of Tenacity: Sydney Brass

September 18, 2025

Sydney Brass is a fourth year public relations major from Flowery Branch, Georgia, set to graduate in May 2026. Sydney serves as president of the UGA chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America, which is the largest chapter in the nation. This summer, Brass interned for Jennifer Bett Communications as a public relations intern.

Read her Q/A below.

Why did you choose your major?

Honestly, I chose my major because I met Taylor Swift’s publicist when I was 14 and thought she was awesome. Now, I am actively pursuing a degree in public relations because of the meaningful relationships I have made.

What does tenacity mean to you?

To me, tenacity means following through and honoring those who have helped you along the way.

What is one piece of advice that you would give to other Grady students?

TRY EVERYTHING. We are so blessed with the faculty and network we are given at Grady, I encourage everyone to take advantage of these opportunities while we have them!

What has been your biggest accomplishment in the past year?

Landing my summer internship! I thought I would have everything figured out for this past summer by spring break, at the latest. I didn’t even interview for my internship until mid-March, and accepted the offer after I was done with classes. It was my absolute dream internship, and I am proud of the patience I practiced along the way.

What is your favorite place on campus and why?

The Grady lawn (Schnitzer Family Media Lawn), especially on a fall afternoon!

What advice would you give to your future self?

When in doubt, book a flight. I hope you are still traveling, pursuing what you love and surrounding yourself with awesome people.
