Joy Ovington

Before joining Grady College in 2025, Joy Ovington built a wide-ranging career in communications, education, and arts administration. She worked with the Athens Regional Library System and Bilbo Books Publishing and served as creative cirector for the Georgia Fine Arts Academy. She completed a UGA I-Corps accelerator cohort and previously worked as a Gannett staff writer in the Public Affairs Office at Maxwell Air Force Base. Her background includes teaching from pre-K to the college level and contributing administrative skills to various creative and academic initiatives. She earned an MFA from Florida State University and a BA from the University of Alabama, with additional study at Cornell University. Joy is committed to supporting the arts, education and collaborative efforts that bring people and ideas together.
