Grady Ambassadors

Grady Ambassadors

The Grady Ambassadors are a dynamic team of student leaders who serve as official hosts and ambassadors for the Grady College.

overview

The goal of the Grady Ambassadors is to present a positive and lasting image of Grady College and its students to all constituents. Ambassadors have a strong presence at college events, lead tours and interact with alumni and potential donors, special guests and speakers, and prospective Grady College students and their parents.
The Grady Ambassador organization consists of 20 to 30 undergraduate and graduate students who report directly to Karen Andrews, the college’s director of Special Events and Student Leadership, who also serves as the adviser for the group.

Membership in the Grady Ambassador program is open to all full-time undergraduate students enrolled in Grady College, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.  If you have additional questions, contact Karen by email, karena@uga.edu.

My favorite Grady College experience has been all the events we put on. The college makes an effort to put on events that are more personal to the students and our everyday activities.

I always say that Grady College is the school of friendship because it actually is! I have met so many amazing people here- not just students but faculty too. It feels like everyone is on my side and supporting me through classes and beyond.

My favorite Grady class so far is one that I am currently taking, which is the Avid Certification class with Professor Biddle. There are only a few people in the class, and the intimate atmosphere allows us to collaborate and work one-on-one with Biddle, who is very knowledgeable about the program.

PRSSA means the most to me because it taught me about the industry prior to my acceptance into Grady, helped me get my internships, and allowed me to meet so many of my peers and classmates in Grady. PRSSA has allowed me to grow throughout my time in Grady, as I served on the social media committee, then as director of finance and now as the vice president.

I am passionate about the intersection of creativity, technology, and business and hope to pursue a career at a large advertising agency that will allow for these interests to align through the curation, consultation, and promotion of brands!

My favorite class is my Reporting and Writing course. Even though I am not in pursuit of journalism, I have never had the most hands-on experience in a classroom setting before. I was able to make lifelong friendships, while stepping out of my comfort zone with interviewing and reporting on Athens’ locals.

My favorite class has been JRLC Career Exploration with Dean Davis. It was an incredibly valuable class. Dean Davis brought industry leading speakers from different fields to talk about their work, and we got an immense amount of information and guidance from the in-class guests.

“Grady College is full of stories, and that’s my favorite part about it. Whether chatting with friends in the PAF after Dawgs with the Dean or running into a professor in the halls — everyone is willing to say hello. It’s amazing!”

I feel so lucky to be involved with the photojournalism department within Grady, it has provided me with a community of like-passioned people and outstanding mentorship.

The Entertainment and Media Industries Club means the most to me because it’s directly related to my major, and it’s a phenomenal way to network and learn about my field from both alumni and people my age.

I work as a Student Assistant at the Peabody Awards Office and in the spring, the office is humming with judges deliberating over the nominees for the year’s annual Peabody Awards. I got to sit in on some of the deliberations last year and be able to see how the best in television are judged by those well versed in the field. My experience at the Peabody Awards has enriched my taste in television and has given me a more nuanced look into entertainment.
