Ray McKinnon, winner of both a Peabody Award and an Academy Award, will hold a conversation with students on March 29 at 7 p.m. in the Peyton Anderson Forum at Grady College. The event is free and open to all.
The program is presented by the Peabody Awards. McKinnon won a Peabody Award for “Rectify,” in 2015. “Rectify,” a drama filmed on location in Griffin, Georgia, is about a death-row inmate freed after nearly two decades thanks to new DNA evidence. The fourth and final season aired on the Sundance Channel last fall.
McKinnon is a writer, director, producer and actor from Adel, Georgia. In 2001, Ray won the Academy Award for his live action short film “The Accountant.” As an actor, he has appeared in such films as “O Brother Where Art Thou?,” “The Blind Side,” “Take Shelter,” “Footloose,” and “Mud.” He has also appeared in the television shows “Deadwood,” “Justified” and “Sons of Anarchy.”
