Abstract: Through a thematic analysis, this study looks at two salient times of Angel Reese’s collegiate career by way of top digital sports outlets. Using framing and intersectionality, three themes emerge: Angel vs Everybody; Unforgiving, Strong (Black) Woman; and Not Your Average Athlete. Authors find that the (lack of) coverage of Reese’s mental health announcement perpetuates status quo reporting and erasure of Black women’s experience.
