Abstract: This study uses a qualitative survey and interviews with rural newsroom leaders and journalists in the United States to explore how rural nonprofit news organizations integrate AI into their news gathering and production processes, as well as to investigate internal discussions about AI adoption, especially in relation to funders’ decisions and its impact on their mission.
