
Q&A for Grady College students with Verne Lundquist
Verne Lundquist, the lead voice of Southeastern Conference football on CBS, will share his experiences and advice with Grady College students April 12 at 3:15 p.m. in the Peyton Anderson Forum.
The Q&A will be moderated by Sam Crenshaw, a veteran Atlanta TV sports reporter and anchor.
Lundquist has spent nearly 45 years as a sports broadcaster. In his professional career, he has broadcast a variety of major sports including basketball, football, golf and figure skating. He has been a commentator for The Masters, figure skating at The Olympics and the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championships.
Lundquist is scheduled to accept the Lifetime Achievement Award for Sports at the 37th annual Sports Emmy Awards in May.
The Q&A with Lundquist is sponsored by Grady Sports Media and Grady College.
In addition to the Q&A session on April 12, Lundquist will also serve on a panel of UGA sports and historic preservation faculty on April 11 for the “UGA: Heritage of Sport” event. The panel is at 4 p.m. in the Special Collections Libraries auditorium and will cover the impact of sports and sports venues on UGA and the community.
The panel also features Vince Dooley, former UGA football coach; Tony Barnhart, studio analyst for the SEC Network and contributor to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution; and Danny Sniff, former Associate Vice President for Facilities Planning. The panel will be moderated by Loran Smith, a sports broadcaster, and associate director of public relations and development for the University of Georgia Athletic Association.
