Grady College to host its largest-ever Career Day on Feb. 10

Media industry professionals representing more than 65 employers will network with University of Georgia students Feb. 10, 2016, at the largest-ever Journalism and Mass Communication Career Day.

All Grady College majors seeking careers in advertising, broadcast and print journalism, creative mass media, digital, media sales, or public relations are invited to attend.

“This annual event brings companies and organizations to campus to recruit our students for internships, part-time and full-time job opportunities, externships, graduate programs, portfolio schools—a little bit of everything,” said Ryan Carty, director of experiential learning at Grady College. “Employers are looking for skills in editing, writing, social media, and even sales.  Our students can do a little bit of everything, and I think anyone can find a spot at this fair.”

Students can polish their resumes and brush up on their networking skills through a series of free preparation workshops leading up to Career Day.

   ▪ “How to Become a LinkedIn All-Star” takes place on Feb. 3 from 5 to 6 p.m. in Journalism 412;
   ▪ LinkedIn Open Labs will be held from 12 to 3 p.m. on Feb. 4-5 in Journalism 418;
   ▪ Resume Critique Days are 12-3 p.m. on Feb. 8-9 in the Peyton Anderson Forum; and
   ▪ Career Fair Prep Workshop is 6-7:30 p.m. Feb. 9 in MLC 148.

“At the Career Fair Prep, we’ll talk to students about how to build an elevator pitch, the importance of employer research and also discuss what employers will be looking for at the fair,” Carty explained.
