The Grady College Department of Advertising and Public Relations announces its fifth annual week-long celebration of National ADPR Week at UGA, Sept. 23-27.

“ADPR Week at Grady is about celebrating the advertising and public relations professions,” said Bryan Reber, head of the ADPR department. “This year we are focusing on the emerging influence of artificial intelligence and virtual reality and their impact now and in the future.”

The week will feature an engaging lineup of events packed with special presentations and professional development opportunities led by industry veterans. We will also culminate the week with a special thank you to our students and our alumni and friends of the program that make ADPR one of the top programs in the nation!

This year’s keynote speaker is Matt Marriott, Senior Vice President of Sales and Client Success at Acoustic.  During his talk, entitled “Warning Sign! The CMO’s New Reality” Marriott will discuss how the role of a Chief Marketing Officer is changing based on the new reality of artificial intelligence influencing almost every aspect of business.

The Department is also kicking off its first #MatchItMonday campaign, asking for students, alumni and friends of the Department to contribute to the ADPR Excellence Fund. Our Executive Advisory Council will match each donation dollar for dollar, up to $25,000, that will support students in our experiential learning programs, both domestic and abroad.

We will also have alumnus John Buzzell, President of You Are Here Labs, joining us on Tuesday to further our discussion of the impact of artificial intelligence. Buzzell is an award-winning leader in the digital industry, creating interactive experiences across Augmented Reality and VR, Video games, Mobile apps, and numerous high-volume Websites. At You Are Here Labs, Buzzell leads teams to create meaningful and measurable experiences across platforms. Clients include AT&T, Porsche, Cartoon Network, Lexus, the NBA, Stanley Black & Decker, Carnival Cruises, Coca-Cola, Aflac, Southern Company, the National Safety Council and New York City Transit.  “It’s a great opportunity to network and learn from these leaders.  We’re excited about the programming that’s planned,” said Reber.  Following the panel, the UGA AdClub, PRSSA and IABC chapters  are hosting a joint club meeting with Buzzell.

The Department of Advertising and Public Relations boasts national rankings, award-winning faculty and successful alumni who are changing the world of advertising and public relations by applying the knowledge they gained from a top-notch education at UGA.

AdPR pride will be shared on social media with the hashtag #ADPRide.
