SUMMARY:Murrow Program at Grady College
DESCRIPTION:Grady College and the Cox International Center are pleased to again be selected as a host location for the Murrow Program. \nThe Cox Center will host 24 participants from all over the world\, along with four program officers that will accompany the Murrow participants. \nThe program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program. \nGoals of the program are to: \n*Examine the rights and responsibilities of a free press in a democracy and the principles and laws governing the press in the United States; \n*Gain an understanding of the evolution\, current status\, and trends in journalistic investigations and research in the United States; \n*Explore unique aspects that distinguish investigative reporting from traditional journalism; \n*Understand the role that investigative journalists play in U.S. society as they raise awareness of issues of social concern and report on illegal\, irregular\, or abusive actions on behalf of government\, politicians\, criminals or corporations; \n*Assess the impact of social media\, new communication technologies\, citizen journalism\, and alternative forms of investigative reporting
