DESCRIPTION:Join us for a free panel\, “Diversity\, Harassment and Bullying in the Media Industries: A Writer’s Responsibilities.” \nPanelists include: \nMoni Basu: an enterprise reporter for CNN Digital\, where she is part of a team that’s bringing narrative journalism to a brand best known for breaking news. Before becoming an online journalist\, she was a reporter and editor at newspapers for 26 years. Originally from India\, Basu has straddled two cultures all her life\, and her stories often reflect the complexities of race\, ethnicity and identity. \nNeil Landau: a professor in the M.F.A. screenwriting and producing programs and associate director of screenwriting for television at UCLA TFT. Landau’s writing credits include the 1991 teen comedy feature “Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead\,” starring Christina Applegate; the Pax TV series “Twice in a Lifetime;” MTV’s “Undressed;” CBS’ “The Magnificent Seven;” and Fox’s “Melrose Place.” \nChristine Swanson: an award-winning filmmaker who earned her MFA in Film from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts\, the nation’s top-ranked graduate film program. Swanson has developed\, written and/or directed movie projects for various companies including HBO Films\, Magnolia Pictures\, State Street Pictures\, TV ONE and Faith Filmworks\, her own independent film company. \nRefreshments will be served. \nThis panel is sponsored by the Grady College Standing Committee on Diversity and the MFA Program.

DESCRIPTION:Screenwriter Neil Landau will discuss his new book\, “TV Writing on Demand: Creating Great Content in the Digital Era.” \n  \n\n\n\n\nNeil Landau teaches in the M.F.A. screenwriting and producing programs and serves as the associate director of screenwriting for television at UCLA TFT. \nHis writing credits include the 1991 teen comedy feature “Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead\,” starring Christina Applegate; the Pax TV series “Twice in a Lifetime;” MTV’s “Undressed;” CBS’ “The Magnificent Seven;” Fox’s “Melrose Place;” Nickelodeon’s “The Secret World of Alex Mack;” ABC’s “Doogie Howser\, M.D.;” and one-hour drama pilots for CBS\, ABC\, Warner Bros.\, Disney\, Lifetime and Freemantle. \nFrom 2004-2007\, Landau worked as a script consultant for Sony Pictures Television International (2004-2007). \nLandau is the author of the bestselling book “101 Things I Learned in Film School “(Grand Central Publishing\, 2010).
