Fulbright Scholar From Romania Visits The Grady College
Delia Cristina Balas (Balaban), Ph.D. (European University Viadrina Frankfurt/Oder, Germany) is a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication of the University of Georgia in Athens. Delia Cristina Balas is a visiting scholar from February 1 to May 31, 2020, and her stay is sponsored by the James M. Cox Jr. Center for International Mass Communication Training and Research, the international outreach unit of the Grady College.
In her home country she is professor for the communication science department of the Faculty for Political, Administrative and Communication Sciences, within the Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. She is the director of the Graduate School of Communication, of the department of public relations and advertising and was the founder of one of the few advertising programs (BA and MA) in Romania. Babes-Bolyai University is one of the leading higher education institutions in Romania.
Her work mainly focuses on media and advertising research with theoretical and empirical contributions to the field. She is working on source credibility in Advertising and social media and is pleased to work with colleagues from the Advertising and PR Department of the Grady College during her time as a visiting scholar. Besides the literature resources that she can use at UGA, Delia Cristina Balas enjoys having the possibility of a scholar exchange with members of some of the leading Advertising and PR Department in the US.
“Being a visiting Fulbright Scholar at the Grady College of the UGA is a very important opportunity for me to develop my research, to exchange ideas with my U.S .colleagues in the field, said Dr. Balas. “It is also an opportunity for a further development between UGA and my home university in Romania. Many tanks to the James M. Cox Jr. Center for International Mass Communication Training and Research, to the director Dr. Tudor Vlad and to Laurie Anglin for their constant support.”
During her stay she will participate with writing a paper for the Annual Conference of the American Academy of Advertising in San Diego, March 26-29, 2020.
