Xiamen University Scholar Joins Cox Center For A Year
LinLin Wu,associate professor in the School of Journalism and Communication at Xiamen University, joined the Cox International Center at the University of Georgia in March as part of a year-long sabbatical.
Dr. Wu will be conducting research during her stay on the coverage in the U.S. media of financial issues related to the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.
Dr. Wu is an expert on the relationship between Taiwan, viewed by China to be a province, and Fujian province. The two provinces are separated by the Straits of Taiwan.
Xiamen University is located in Xiamen, which is part of Fujian Province.
“We are delighted to have Dr. Wu with us for her sabbatical year,” said Dr. Lee B. Becker, director of the James M. Cox Jr. Center for International Mass Communication Training and Research.
“We look forward to learning about her research and to involving her in the work of the Center,” Dr. Becker added.
The Cox International Center is a unit of the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia.
Dr. Wu’s visit is part of a developing relationship between the Cox International Center, the Grady College, and the School of Journalism and Communication at Xiamen University.
Xiamen University was the first school in China to offer a journalism major. The School of Journalism and Communication consists of a Journalism Department, an Advertising Department, and a Communications Department as well as the Research Center for Taiwan Media, the Journalism Institute, the Communication Institute, the Research Center for Brand and Advertising, and the Research Center for Strategic Communication.
Dr. Wu is a member of the School of Journalism.
