Call for Peabody Student Honor Board

Students have always been an important part of the Peabody Awards. Here is your chance to join our team in celebrating Stories That Matter!
UGA students selected for the Honor Board will serve as Peabody Awards Ambassadors and will work at all Peabody-hosted events, including the annual awards ceremony in New York City. The Honor Board also will evaluate Peabody Award submissions in the digital realm and will select winners for the new “Futures of Media Award,” a new Peabody distinction that recognizes innovation and excellence in digital programming.
Members will earn a $500 stipend to help defray their travel costs to New York City to attend and staff the annual awards ceremony on May 21, 2016.
Application Process
All University of Georgia undergraduate students are eligible to apply.
Select one digital program (web, interactive, or mobile) that you think achieves two things:
1. Excellence in Storytelling. Peabody’s tagline is Stories That Matter. Ask yourself: Is this a new story or is it being told in a new way? What kind of issues – public, creative, political, educational, etc. – is it dealing with? Who is it speaking to? Why is it important for us to reflect on these? 2. Innovation in the digital space. Remember, innovation means doing something new and creative. Stand out with your choice! Avoid programs, sites, or platforms like Snapchat or an app and website that contain the same exact content.
Write a two-page argument in support of the digital program/website/platform you select. Why does it deserve recognition? Feel free to include visuals, graphics, and links. On this document, please include:
· Your name, year in school, major/college (or intended direction),
· The program/platform title and a link to where it can be found
We will evaluate all entries and invite up to 15 students to participate in the second and final round of the selection process. Finalists will be asked to make a seven-minute in-person presentation in support of their selected programs. We will then choose five students to join the current Honor Board.
