AdPR students are given the opportunity to register to travel to Chicago every fall.

New York City tour

AdPR students gain class credit and firsthand agency knowledge when they participate in the New York City Maymester class. The class class gives students the opportunity to learn about the communications industry, develop case studies, and do a one-week tour of New York advertising agencies to meet and learn from professionals. Some of the agencies that the class has visited in the past include Grey Group, McCann-Erickson, Strawberry Frog, 360i, LaForce + Stevens, and Momentum, among others. In addition, students got to participate in UGA-related events, including a reception with the Peabody Award winners and a networking mixer with New York-based Grady alumni.

Silicon Valley

AdPR students looking to enhance their education were selected for a three-day immersive experience in California’s Silicon Valley over winter break. Through the Grady College/ AdPR partnership with eBay and with the help of UGA alumna Suzy Deering (CMO of eBay), students are connected with a number of industry giants including eBay, Facebook, Google, Pinterest, Imgur and Kiip. In the past, students have also toured the Verizon Innovation Center to see demonstrations of some of the latest technology innovations for communications.

A trip to Silicon Valley provides insite for AdPR students interested in careers in technology.

Washington D.C. tour

PRSSA members travel to Washington D.C. each February for an agency/government/nonprofit tour. Students are chosen for the trip based on their serious interest in agency/nonprofit/political and corporate public relations. Past trips have included visits to Levick Strategic Communications, Porter Novelli, Senator Johnny Isakson’s office, the State Department and Pentagon, and Edelman. On the last day of their trip, all students shadow professionals in the DC area. The trip ends with the students as guests of D.C. Dawgs, at a Grady alumni mixer.
