Our Sports Media Certificate offers the Southeastern Conference’s only dedicated program for undergraduates interested in a range of sports media specialties, including writing, broadcasting, social media and team communications.
Certificate alumni are working at media outlets including ESPN, The Athletic, the NFL Network, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and The Washington Post and at sports organizations such as the Atlanta Falcons, the Atlanta Braves and the Colorado Rapids.
Students in the Sports Media Certificate program:
- Gain real-world experience in all classes.
- Develop storytelling skills with a multimedia- and innovation-oriented approach.
- Complete an internship in sports media.
Sports Media Certificate faculty include:
- Vicki Michaelis, former lead Olympics reporter for USA Today, directs the program.
- Welch Suggs, who leads the Carmical Sports Media Institute’s research efforts, is associate director.
